You can use Lexicon to import beatgrids or key from any DJ app. This is great if you prefer the beatgrids or keys from a specific DJ app. For example, Traktor has one of the best beatgrid analyzers so you can import those beatgrids into Lexicon. Here's how to do that. We'll use Traktor for this guide. Create a playlist to send your tracks to Traktor, let's call it To Analyze Add all the tracks you want to analyze in the new playlist Go to the Sync page, choose Traktor Pro and choose Playlist Select the To Analyze playlist and click the Sync button in the bottom right corner Open Traktor, the To Analyze playlist should be there Analyze all tracks in the playlist, set it to analyze All and enable Parallel Processing for faster analysis Once done analyzing, close Traktor and open Lexicon again Go to the Import page (Sync page ➡ Import tracks & playlists button) Choose Traktor Pro to import from, set it to Playlist and enable the Merge with current library option Choose the To Analyze playlist on the right You'll notice the Specific fields option, this is the important one. Click it and make sure only Beatgrid is selected Now press the green Import button in the bottom right corner Now Lexicon will import only the beatgrids from Traktor for the tracks in your To Analyze playlist. All your existing track information will not be changed.

How to snap cues to the grid?

You can snap cues to the grid by enabling Quantize. You can enable it by clicking the Q in the music player when a track is loaded, or by choosing "Toggle Quantize" in the Edit menu. With Quantize enabled, your cues will also move with your beatgrid when you adjust it to the left or right.

You can see a complete list of user-definable hotkeys (keyboard shortcuts) in the Lexicon settings. Other than those, there are a few standard hotkeys: Esc : Closes popups and cancels actions Enter : Plays the selected track in the track browser Tab : Go through editable fields in the track browser or switch to Recipes in the Edit dialog Up/Down Arrow : Move through tracks in the track browser Page Up/Down : Move through tracks in the track browser per page Home : Go to the first track in the track browser End : Go to the last track in the track browser Del or Cmd+Backspace : Delete a track from the current playlist or Lexicon. Hold Ctrl to show the popup with more options, like deleting the file from your computer.

Lexicon can rename and even move your files automatically. If you only want to rename files without moving them, follow these steps: Right click track one or more tracks ➡ Send to ➡ Incoming Go to the Incoming page in the left sidebar, you'll see the tracks there Click Settings at the bottom Make sure Target folder is empty Make sure Rename files is checked Set up a FIle rename pattern , often something like %artist% - %title% is used to get a result like "Daft Punk - Get Lucky.mp3". For examples, see the manual Press the All Done button and all files here will be renamed. Your tracks in Lexicon will continue to work. Make sure to do a Full Sync to your DJ app after this to make sure any old filenames are cleaned up If you've set up the Incoming settings already, then you only need to do step 1 and step 7 after this. And step 8 before using your DJ app.

Merging multiple DJ app libraries or iTunes libraries into one Lexicon library is really easy now, follow these steps: Go to the Sync page (Sync in the left sidebar) Click the button Import tracks & playlists . You are on the Import page now. Import your first DJ library, start with your least important library. We want to do the most important one last, as it will overwrite things like cues on your tracks. Once done, import your second DJ library but this time, make sure the Merge with current library option is enabled. Repeat step 4 if you have another DJ library you want to merge. That's all, your libraries are now merged into one Lexicon library. If you want to see your merged library in a DJ app or iTunes, all you have to do is a Full Sync.

How do I remove tracks that are not in any playlist?

Accepted Answer

Here's how to remove tracks from your Lexicon that don't appear in any playlist: Run the Playlist Occurrence utility and put it on zero. You will now get a list of tracks that don't appear in any playlist. Save the result to a new playlist. Open the new playlist. Select all tracks (CMD or CTRL+A). Hold CTRL and press Delete/Backspace (or use the right click menu to delete). Lexicon will ask if you want to delete the track from your library, select the checkbox to do so. Now the playlist will be empty and the tracks will be completely removed from Lexicon.

Unable to relocate files, how to solve this?

When you are trying to relocate your missing tracks in Lexicon, it might not work. There are good reasons for that, let's try and fix them. This guide is for when you are right clicking multiple tracks and choosing Relocate to select a folder. If you only select a single track and choose Relocate , you can point it at any file and you won't get any of these problems, but it's much slower, of course. Make a Lexicon backup before starting this guide! Reason 1: Track already in Lexicon The most common reason why you can't relocate tracks to a different folder is that these new track locations are already in Lexicon. Maybe they were already in your DJ app or you dragged them into Lexicon? Either way, Lexicon does not allow the same track location twice so it can't relocate the old track to the new track location that already exists. Solution The solution is pretty easy here: make sure these new track locations no longer appear in Lexicon. Start by finding these tracks, you can sort the track browser by the Location column and easily find any track in the folder you are trying to relocate to. Select them all and delete them from Lexicon. Deleting tracks is scary, so make a Lexicon database backup first, you can always go back that way. Reason 2: Filename changed Lexicon uses the track's filename to find the right file when choosing a folder to relocate to. If your track filenames have changed in the new folder, Lexicon won't be able to find them. Even a small change in filename will cause this. That's why you should really never change your filenames! There is one exception: if your new tracks now have the _PN suffix at the end, Lexicon will automatically find those tracks since this is a common thing when using Platinum Notes. Solution If possible; change the filenames back to what they were, but often that is not really an option. We can use the Lexicon Find Duplicates utility to solve this problem. Follow these steps: Add all the tracks from the new location into Lexicon Run the Find Duplicates utility Make sure all results are locked On the result screen with all the duplicates, click the Prefer... button and choose Inside (sub)folder and point it to the new folder that has all your moved tracks. Enable the Override locked option. Check a few of the results. The new folder should be the selected duplicate everywhere. Confirm and archive the old missing tracks. Check your tracks and playlists in Lexicon. Your playlists should have the tracks from the new folder. Your old missing tracks are in the Archive . You can delete them from the Archive by using the Cleanup tool there. Full Sync to your DJ app and everything should be there

How do I use a keyboard shortcut to add Custom Tags to tracks?

Setting up a hotkey to add Custom Tags to tracks is quite easy, but it is a two step process: Go to Custom Tags page (left sidebar), right click any tag and assign it a number Open the Lexicon settings, go to Keyboard Shortcuts and find the same shortcut number (search for “shortcut 1” etc). Assign a key combination to it there. Now just press that key when you have one or more tracks selected and it will add the tags. Make sure to show the Custom Tags column to see the results! You can also set the same shortcut number to multiple tags, that way you can create a hotkey to adds multiple tags on a single press.

Is there any way to sort by multiple colums?

You can sort your tracks by clicking the column header, an arrow will appear: To sort by a second column, hold the CTRL or CMD key and press a different column. Your tracks are now sorted by the first column and then by the second column.

Is it possible to set memory cues in Lexicon?

Accepted Answer

Real memory cues do not exist in Lexicon. Lexicon only has regular cues, but you can mark them as Memory Cue so they become memory cues only in Rekordbox. Memory cues is something that only exists in Rekordbox. You can send your Lexicon cues to the Rekordbox memory cue bank though. On the Sync page, choose "All to memory cue" in the "Cue Destination" option. To mark an individual cue as memory cue, enable the "DJ app specific feature" first in the Lexion settings. Then you can click the little "M" button on the cues. If you set a cue as memory cue, it acts as normal cue in Lexicon (and DJ apps you sync to) but for Rekordbox only, that cue becomes a memory cue. You need the "Cue Destination" on Default for this.

How to empty your Lexicon library?

It is very easy to delete your existing Lexicon library and start over. On the Import page, you will see a checkbox Merge with current library . Disable that and when importing, Lexicon will delete all your playlists and tracks before starting the import. Effectively you are starting fresh that way. Completely clean If you want to start even cleaner (this also deletes your settings), then delete the Lexicon database file here: Windows: C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Lexicon\main.db macOS: /Users/user/Library/Application Support/Lexicon/main.db Exit Lexicon before deleting the database. Replace user with your username.

How to create a portable Serato USB?

Creating a USB stick that works in any Serato is actually quite easy. Make sure you have Serato installed; Serato Pro or Serato Lite, they both work for this purpose. Then convert your existing DJ library to Serato. See here for guides for each DJ app. After that is done, start up Serato and you should see your playlists, cues and everything in Serato if the conversion went well. Then the last step: plug in your USB and in Serato drag a playlist (crate) into the USB, see this link . Serato will copy your tracks to the USB and your crate information. So when you plug this USB into a different computer that has Serato, your crate and cues will show up there.

Can I copy and paste custom tags to other tracks?

You cannot copy and paste custom tags from one track to another, but there is another easy way to do achieve the same thing. Make sure the tracks you want to copy tags to don't have any tags at all. Select the track that has the right tags Now hold the CTRL or CMD key and select the other tracks (that don't have any tags) Press the T button to open the Tags popup Click all the tags that have the dashed line around it and close Now all those selected tracks will have the same tags.
