Key Conversion

You can choose how keys are shown in Lexicon, and which key notation is written to your DJ app when you sync. You can also leave them as their original keys.

This supports converting from Camelot keys, Rekordbox keys, Traktor keys, Serato keys, VirtualDJ keys and musical notes.

Please note that not every musical key can be converted.

Key format in Lexicon

The Key format option in the Lexicon settings (General) decides how keys are displayed in Lexicon:

• Open Key, for example 1d or 8m
• Original key: the key as it is stored in your tags or DJ app
• Musical key, for example C or Am
• Custom keys: your own notation, see below
• Open Key, Musical key or Custom keys with original key: shows both

Converting keys when syncing

The Convert keys option in the sync settings decides which notation is written to your DJ app: Original keys, Open Key, Open Key with leading zero, Musical key or Custom key.

Add leading zero

When converting to Open Key, you can add a leading zero, to better sort keys in some DJ apps. Adding a leading zero will help sort correctly (ex. 01m, 02m… 10m, 11m). Otherwise your result will not be correct (ex. 1m, 10m, 11m, 12m, 2m).

Custom keys

With custom keys you choose your own text for every key. Set Key format to Custom keys in the Lexicon settings and click Edit Custom Keys. For each Open Key, enter the text you want to use instead. To also write your custom keys to your DJ app, choose Custom key in the Convert keys sync option.

Camelot

Due to licensing restrictions, converting to Camelot notation is not available. The alternative is Open Key, which has no licensing restrictions.

Note that Open Key is not simply Camelot with different letters. Open Key uses d (major) and m (minor), and the numbers are different too. For example, C major is 1d in Open Key and 8B in Camelot, and A minor is 1m in Open Key and 8A in Camelot.
